Fence Post Spacer
1) Total Linear Footage multiplied by 12 to determine total footage in inches.
Example: Total Linear Footage is 75 feet. So it is 75 x 12 = 900 Total Linear Inches
2) Now to determine the number of sections we will have. You now divide the Total Linear Inches by 93 (NOTE, we use 93 because that provides for a section that meets our maximum standard spacing of 93 inches)
Example: Total Linear Inches is 900 inches. So it is 900 / 93 = 9.67, so we round up to 10
This indicates that we have 10 sections total.
3) Determine post spacing by dividing the Total Linear Inches by the Number of Sections.
Example: 900 / 10 = 90
So each post is spaced 90 inches apart.
Now if you can't do inches to feet in your head you can divide you post spacing inches by 12 to make it into feet + inches. If you get a number that is not even, round up to the nearest inch.
Example: 90 / 12 = 7.5' or 7'6"
Example: 53' of fence
53 x 12 = 636
636 / 93 = 6.83 (round up to 7)
636 / 7 = 90.85
90.85 / 12 = 7.58' or 7'7"
